Sweet Almond Oil

Sweet almond oil has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic, Chinese, and Greco-Persian medicine to nourish and heal the skin. Today, its benefits are well documented both pre-clinically and clinically, with particular effectiveness for dry skin, ageing skin, and atopic dermatitis. Gentle enough for all skin types, it remains one of the most trusted natural oils in modern skincare.

About

INCI Name

Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil

Origin

Plant-derived. Sweet almond oil is extracted by cold pressing the seeds of the sweet almond tree, a tree native to Central Asia, now primarily cultivated in the southern regions of France, California, and the Mediterranean.

Key Skin Benefits

  • Deep hydration & barrier repair — Research indicates that oleic and linoleic-rich oils increase skin hydration by replacing intercellular lipids and lowering transepidermal water loss, softening skin, smoothing roughness, and strengthening barrier resilience

  • Complexion & tone — Almond oil has emollient and sclerosant properties and has been used to improve complexion and skin tone, with clinical evidence suggesting it may reduce hypertrophic scarring.

  • Anti-inflammatory & calming — Phytosterols and linoleic acid suppress inflammatory mediators, alleviating mild dermatitis, irritation, and post-sun redness
